Ethical Informed Citizens
Policy
Our view is that one activity will not lead to supporting pupils to achieve these principles. It is about everything that we do
Evidence
- Curriculum is key to supporting pupils to achieve this principle. We would hard to ensure that we cover a range of different principles so that we are creating broad and balanced opportunities. For example, when pupils learn about Evacuation and Refugees. They are encouraged to answer challenging questions and reflect upon different views.
- RSE and RVE curriculum are key here as well. Various different reviews of this area have supported us to develop a key understanding of this areas.

Caring for others
-During topics, pupils are encouraged to think about others around the world.
- We make charity links during work on different topics and pupils choose who they would like to support and how.
- During break and lunch times pupils are encouraged to support others and nearly all pupils are very caring and considerate of others.
Environmental Awareness and Actions
- During our outdoor learning work we encourage pupils to develop a love of the environment and to support biodiversity. We also encourage pupils to take action both in school and at home by planting and collecting seeds.
- We support pupils to learn about environmental challenges around the world by learning about different aspects of our climate crisis. For example, we have created topics of learning linked to outdoor learning such as learning about ocean acidification.
Cultural Awareness
- We have a well developed Welsh Cultural curriculum with pupils learning about the Princes of Wales and the stories of Owan Glyndwr.
- We also aim to help pupils celebrate a modern Wales and the contributions of a broad range of cultures.
Learning Together
- During activities, such as REAL, we aim to support pupils to work individually, in a pair and as a group.
Giving Feedback
- Reciprocal reading and various activities have created opportunities for pupils to share their learning and provide feedback to others.
Impact
Refine/Improve:
